MONSOON GREETING IN CHINA

11 May 2010

It’s the first full day of the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) Mission to China and I (thats me, Giuliano Santoro), am jet-lagged, but full of enthusiam for the week ahead. My journey comprised a 12-hour flight to Hong Kong, ferry transfer to Humen and then a road trip in to Dongguan.

Day One (DongGuan)
A trip to the highly impressive Songshan Lake Science-Technology Park. This tech Park, located in a beautiful landscape, covers 7,200 hectares (including 762.9 hectares of lake) and is both an ecological and scientific ”city”. Just a pity the moonsoon weather contines to follow us around.

At the Trade Exhibition Centre (see pic), the Dongguan Foreign Affairs Bureau presented a fascinating introduction to the area, followed by a Banquet put on in our honour which was attended by 60 people, comprising local dignitaries and invited business representatives. I met with some property developers - through an interpreter of course!
